Configuring Airtel beetel modem for Linksys wrt54g Router

Configuruing Linksys wrt54g with Airtel beetel 220

In this notes you can learn how to conifugre airtel beetel modem without bridging.

First lets configure the modem

Connect the modem to the computer

Type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar

Login screen would appear with username and password, the default USER NAME is ADMIN and password is PASSWORD (all in lower case)

Now double click on LAN

Change the ip address to 192.168.1.1

Subnet mask to 255.255.255.0

Enable DHCP SERVER

Start IP ADDRESS : 192.168.1.1Ende IP ADDRESS : 192.168.1.49

Now Save the settings
The modem would reebot

Now Disconnect the modem from the computer
Restart the computer
Connect the linksys router to the computer
Type 192.168.1.1
User name and password screen should appear
User name leave it blank and password is admin
It would take u to the gui of linksys to the basic set up page
Under internet connection type in the drop down select Static IP
Internet IP Address: 192.168.1.2
Subnet mast : 255.255.255.0
Gateway : 192.168.1.1
Static DNS 1 : 202.56.215.6
Static DNS 2 : 202.56.230.6
Static DNS 3 : 202.56.215.54

Mtu should be selected to AUTO
Size should be 1500.........its there by default

Under network set ip
Local ip address : 192.168.0.1
Subnet mask : 255.255.255.0

Dhcp server: Select to Enable
STarting ip address : 192.168.0.100
DHCP users : 49
------------------------------------------------------------------------Now save settings
Now your Modem and your router is configured
Disconnect the router from the computer
Restart the computer
Power cycle the modem (Just turn of and turn it on)
Power cycle the router
Connect the ethernet cable from the modem to the router and another ethernet cable from Router to the computer
Turn the modem on
Turn on the router
Turn on the computer
Do it systematically
Now you should be able to go online

Configuring the wireless set up
Type 192.168.0.1 in the browser address box (remeber we changed the ip address of the router)
username blank and password is admin
Click the wireless tab
Click on basic wireless settings
Wireless networking mode : Mixed
wireless network id ssid : You can select any name of your choice... this would be your network name
Wireless Channel : By default it is 6 (if you have lot of interference to your wireless u can select the channel to 11 or 1 where interference would be less and u get strong signals
Wireless SSid Broadcast : Select Enable
Save settings

Now you are all set to go wireless
On your computer
Go to start
Click on connect to
Wireless network connection windows will open
Click on refersh network list
Now u can find your ssid your network came here
Double click on it and connect.................
